Soft and natural in appearance, Breedon Golden Amber self-binding gravel complements both modern day and historical projects alike. Held in very high regard for its performance, durability and versatility it can be seen at many of the country's most prestigious stately homes and enhances numerous beautiful National Trust and English Heritage gardens nationwide.
Breedon Golden Amber Gravel is a 100% natural hard limestone which is crushed and graded to a 12mm to dust, a high content of this material is a naturally occurring light marl. The marl content within the stone at Breedon Quarry gives our product its unique self-binding properties.
Unlike many other alternatives on the market the hard-wearing limestone at Breedon Quarry is non-frost susceptible, meaning that when laid correctly the surface will not lift over the frosty winter months – it provides a hard, natural surface for year-round use. Other self-binding materials can tend to become saturated and slippery in these circumstances, making areas unusable and often causing a complete breakdown of the surface.
Once installed in accordance with our laying instructions, Breedon Golden Amber Gravel knits together to form a solid base and a surface which self-scarifies with use leaving a fine dressing of chippings. This is an ideal choice not only for pedestrian and vehicular use, but also for cycleways, bridle paths, golf courses and many other leisure and recreation uses. Due to the strength and durability of Breedon Gravel it is also perfect for buggy and wheelchair use – meaning that pathways and driveways are accessible for all.
Breedon Golden Amber Gravel can be laid by hand for smaller projects or through a paving machine for large construction schemes.
When ordering your self-binding limestone please specifically ask for "Breedon Golden Amber Gravel" as some of our market competitors use the term "Golden Amber Gravel" to promote their alternative products which are not produced by Breedon Trading Ltd.
