Calke Explore - Calke Abbey

Earlier this year we supplied in excess of 200 tonnes of Breedon Golden Amber self-binding gravel to the newly installed “outdoor hub” named Calke Explore at Calke Abbey.

Breedon Gravel has always been a product of choice by The National Trust due to it being a natural material whilst providing a solid, robust pathway which is suitable for pedestrians, cycles, buggys and wheelchairs. With this in mind Breedon Gravel was the perfect solution for pathways at Calke Explore in Derbyshire.

Calke Explore and its’ new facilities including a car park, toilets and a food and beverage kiosk opened this summer. There is so much to enjoy here and it is proving a very popular attraction for young and old alike who like to explore the great outdoors.

These photographs were taken at the beginning of the development, the cladding is currently being completed, we will update with the finished outdoor hub photos shortly.

There are long-term plans which include the creation of a new building, cycle hire facilities, and a multi-use room to be used for learning and education.

We look forward to supplying further requirements for pathways and cycle-tracks in the future.
