For many years we have supplied our Breedon Golden Amber self-binding material to zoos, safari parks, animal sanctuaries and wildlife centres across the UK.
The natural, yet durable properties of our limestone quarried here at Breedon Quarry in south Derbyshire make it the product of choice for these attractions.
Perfectly accessible year-round for all users, including buggies and wheelchair users, our crushed and graded material is ideal to surface heavily used footpaths without having to resort to bitumen-based products – therefore, in keeping with the natural surroundings.
As well as appearing on walkways and car parks, Breedon Gravel is also widely used in various animal enclosures. From giraffes to tortoises, zebras to meerkats – it is 100% natural – making it a safe material for all habitats.
Breedon Special Aggregates have supplied Chester Zoo, London Zoo, West Midlands Safari Park and Yorkshire Wildlife Park to name a few. More locally to us, Twycross Zoo use Breedon Gravel extensively throughout their site.
The latest addition to Twycross zoo was the Gruffalo Discovery Land where the pathways snaking through the space were surfaced in Breedon Gravel, it also includes an auditorium where the product was selected to tie in with the newly constructed footpaths.

We will always strive to deliver your bulk bags on the date requested, but please do bear with us as we work with the carrier. It is advisable that any orders placed are delivered where possible 2 days prior to the anticipated time of installation to ensure your goods reach you in plenty of time. For requirements of more than 6 bulk bags we would recommend that you contact us for prices as there may be a cost saving available to you if we deliver using our crane off load vehicles.
We would also advise that if 6 bulk bags of material or more is required and if site access permits, the most cost effective method of supply would be to deliver the material loose tipped as opposed to in bulk bags.
